George Contos hired as CEO of Inperium of NY and Chief Strategy & Legal Officer of Inperium
We are pleased to announce that George Contos has been hired as Chief Executive Officer of Inperium of New York, Inc. and Chief Strategy and Legal Officer of Inperium, Inc. Mr. Contos’ oversight will include Inperium’s strategic initiatives and legal matters, its I/DD portfolio, and its growth and expansion into New York and additional states. He will report to Inperium’s Founding President and CEO, Ryan Smith. Mr. Contos has a background in law and financial services and is an accomplished health and human services executive with over 30 years of experience and a proven track record 0f success in executive leadership, strategic planning, and business development. Most recently, Mr. Contos was Chief Executive Officer of YAI, a role he undertook in 2015 after serving as its Chairman. With operations in New York, New Jersey, and California, YAI is one of New York’s largest nonprofit providers of comprehensive healthcare, education, and social services to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and co-occurring behavioral health disorders. Under Mr. Contos’ leadership, YAI grew and diversified into an organization with 300 programs, 4,000 staff, and consolidated annual revenue of $300 million. Mr. Contos has held various roles on several nonprofit boards and government councils throughout New York, including the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities Joint Advisory Council for Managed Care; the NYC Mayor’s Crisis Prevention and Response Task Force; the Manhattan Star Academy; and the governing entity of Partners Health Plan, the nation’s first provider-led managed care organization exclusively for people with developmental disabilities. In 2019, 2021, and 2022, Mr. Contos was recognized by City and State magazine as one of New York’s “Nonprofit Power 100,” and in 2021 by Crain’s New York Business as a “Notable in Nonprofits and Philanthropy.” Mr. Contos received his B.A. from Tufts University, his J.D. from Georgetown University, and his Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) from The American College. He was born and raised in Manhattan, where he resides with his family.
