Michael Strazzella

Chief Governmental Relations Officer

With more than 30 years of experience in government relations, legislative strategy, grassroots advocacy, political campaigns and coalition building. Michael’s expertise spans health care and human services policy, including Medicaid financing and program integrity, behavioral health integration, and integrated delivery systems. His deep understanding of the legislative process has led to a strong track record of advancing community-based providers’ priorities through both legislative and administrative channels.

Michael brings an in-depth knowledge of the legislative and regulatory landscape that shapes health care, intellectual disabilities, behavioral health, home- and community-based services, and workforce policy. In his role, Michael directs Inperium’s governmental affairs function — from strategic positioning and coalition engagement to outreach and advocacy by navigating the intersection of Capitol Hill, state legislatures, and state and federal agencies. He partners closely with executive leadership to align policy objectives with the organization ’s broader mission of expanding access to high-quality human services.

Before Buchanan, Michael worked for a national law firm serving clients across the health care delivery system – from autism centers, behavioral health, health systems, health plans, home care and life sciences. In addition, he worked for a state hospital association where he was responsible for federal lobbying efforts, strategy and oversight. He also managed congressional and regulatory affairs several national physician associations that had interests in the mental health and laboratory space.

Michael has cultivated strong, bipartisan relationships within federal and state government. He brings a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to advocacy that is well-suited to the realities of a complex legislative landscape, consistently identifying common ground across party lines to advance shared priorities.

He received his B.A. in Political Science from Gettysburg College.
